Startup Weekend

A lot of graphic designers are freelance or entrepreneurs. Much of the time we work on the visual look of a new product, business or event. If you have that desire to start with a company or product from scratch you should look into Startup Weekend. This is my first year participating and I just recently heard about it. This year it is over the weekend of November 12-14 at Purdue Research Park in Indianapolis. This is an event that is held all over the world as well.

The idea is to bring people together ranging in many skill levels and disciplines from developers and designers to finance and business developers. The goal is to brainstorm ideas for possible companies then break up into groups. The companies that seem most viable are chosen and each group is tasked with building the foundation of that business with the end result having a viable business started by the end of the weekend.

To me this sounds like a great place to meet other innovators and thinkers in your local area. Find out more information about it at http://indianapolis.startupweekend.org/. It cost $50 to participate and spaces are limited. Maybe I can write a follow up article after the event.

Startup Weekend is back in Indianapolis November 12-14th as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week!
