Adobe Lightroom has done it once again. It has improved! A free upgrade for all Lightroom 3 users, Lightroom is now version 3.3. Ok you may ask, what does Lightroom do in the first place?
Well Lightroom is an image processing program that allows you to work on one to thousands of images, processing and organizing them along the way. And that’s not all it does. You can show your images in slide shows, web galleries and print layouts uploading them to your website or photo-sharing sites.
I am excited about Lightroom 3.3 because it now does video as well. Having the ability to organize and process video fits right in nowadays with cameras that do still shots as well as moving ones. Adding music, transitions, titles and exporting them out to MP4 format will be a plus to this program that already is a must have for photographers and now videographers alike.
Lightroom 3.3 also provides support for tethered shooting with certain DSLRs such as Nikon, Canon and Leica. As you may know tethering your camera to your computer to frame your shot as well as getting the right exposure is a real time saver and also lets you control your camera and settings without having to touch the camera itself. Previous versions of Lightroom did support tethering but needed the proprietary software to interface with it and the camera.
Another feature Lightroom 3.3 comes with is the comprehensive noise reduction mode. This helps greatly in eliminating grain from your images that have them when shooting in low light. Conversely, you can also add film grain simulating the look of film. With the added features of improved watermarking, image importing and even faster accelerated performance, there is no reason now for anyone to stay away from Adobe Lightroom.
