Kill The IPad

I know this is a misleading title but I just couldn’t help it. Even as an owner of a 64 gig IPad, I am on the lookout for an Ipad type device that will do better than what Apple offers in this device. First let me say, I love the size of the screen. Easily viewable without having to scroll or squint, I can turn the screen from portrait mode to landscape at will. I also love the screen brightness which allows me to see easily in normal as well as in bright light settings. I could go on about what I like about the Ipad but what would kill this device is what I do not like about it. So without further ado, my wish list features for an “Ipad killer” are as follows.
Let’s start off with a USB connection that would allow files to be uploaded directly into it without having to use a computer and that nasty program called ITunes. I also would not mind having the ability to upload from a media card of choice without an accessory interface, which of course, can cost extra. With the Ipad it’s a chore as the media card and only a SD media card can be used. And the card has to come directly out of the camera. A work around though if you want to upload files onto the SD card from a computer, is to keep the digital image folder on the card when using the interface device. As I said, a chore. And with the Ipad, as far as music goes, it’s ITunes or the highway.
The ability to add additional memory to a tablet would also cause me to kill my Ipad. Sure, 64 gig of memory is a lot but as every woman knows, more is better. And what happens when you exceed this memory? Why of course, delete “old files”. For some, this is not a good option. Also the ability to replace the battery would be nice because as in the nature of batteries, they go bad after a period of time. At first, gradually not being able to charge at the initial capacity to just not working. Multitasking is another feature this new device could have that would have me put down my Ipad. And last but not least is the price. At $700, I paid a pretty good penny to Steve Jobs. I want something less expensive. At this rate, I could buy a laptop!
If I can find a device that overcomes all of the gripes listed above, it’s a sure bet although it will not be dead, my Ipad will be taking a nap a lot.
