Boris Continuum Complete
Let me start by saying that I am a novice to intermediate After Effects user and Videographer. I had never used any of the Boris FX plugins before trying Continuum Complete, so my review is from the perspective of a beginner who is just getting started with both Adobe After Effect and Boris Continuum Complete.
At first, I was overwhelmed by the extent of all that Boris Continuum Complete has to offer. It’s so extensive and powerful that it’s really like a whole new program on top of After Effects. Because of this, it does take some time to get familiar with. This brings me to comment on the tremendous amount of online tutorials available not only from Boris, but other sources as well. This has made the learning curve much easier. If you are like me and just getting started, I highly recommend checking out all the short videos at http://www.borisfx.com/videos/ This will give you an idea of the many things Boris Continuum Complete can do and get you started. They also offer trial versions so you can check out the software before you buy.
Once you get familiar with how the interface works and where to find the different tools, it’s not long before you are crating stunning effects. There are over 200 different filter and effects and I have only scratched the surface of a few of them. Some of my favorites so far are the Generators, stars, clouds, rain, snow, etc. They are all easy to use and Boris does an amazing job of creating extremely realistic effects. Usually with only a few clicks as the presets are often all that is needed. Another one of my favorites is the set of film looks. These also only taking a few clicks to get realistic looks with just using the presets.
Of all the effects I have played with so far, the Beat Reactor is by far my favorite. This tool opens up unlimited creativity by syncing sound to your video or animations. This Beat Reactor tool is simply amazing and I’m looking forward to using it a lot more.
Along with the previous tools mentioned, and combined with the 3-Way Color Grade, color correction tool, the integrated masking tool, and the ability to use these tools with the BCC motion tracker. Continuum Complete 7 AE worth every penny.
Again, I have only scratched the surface in the short time that I have been using this software and I can’t wait to lean more of what this set of effects tools can truly do.
