CSS The Missing Manual
ISBN-0596802447
Copyright 2009.
This is a well written comprehensive guide to a complex subject. Not that CSS in itself is that complex, but the way that it has to interact with HTML and XHTML along with PHP and Perl and a dozen other web languages.
This book begins with a guide through that maze with examples of HTML and XHTML and the validation process of your finished work. No amount of proofing your work can substitute for a quick run through the validation tools provided by W3.org and this book provides instructions and links to these valuable tools.
I can easily recommend this book to beginners as a leaning guide to work your way from knowing nothing about CSS to being an expert. For those who are already experts it is a valuable resource as a reference book.
There are lessons in the book that guide you every step of the way along with all of the associated files being available on the web to work through example after example of simple and complex CSS functions.
The only disappointment that I had was finding that this was Edition 1 of a book that was updated to Edition 2 last year. Since all of HTML and CSS seem to be a moving target I would prefer to have the latest edition.
