Alien Skin has a history of producing great products and Exposure is another one.

Exposure 3 was made by researching the films of the past with the help of professional photographers and lab technicians. Studying color, grain, texture, scratches, dust and vignetting, they make it possible to reproduce the film look in digital photography. 

 

Exposure 3  a filter extension to Photoshop is easy to install with it's own installer.

 

The filter is divided into two parts with the presets on the left and a large preview screen on the right.  It contains wonderful effects including black and white film, color film, color slides, aging effects– with dust and scratches– vignettes, lens warp, glamour shots, Polaroid film, exposure settings and other special effects. It easy to try out different effects on your photo and switch back and forth while the preview image updates very quickly. You can zoom in and out and pan on the preview to take a closer look at your effect. 

 

The presets can be a good starting point, but you can then fine tune the settings to create your perfect effect.  You can then save that effect to your user settings to use again and again.

 

The effects created in exposure are non-destructive as it creates a new layer and leaving the original untouched.

 

Exposure 3 can also be used on video in Photoshop extended for great effects and exposure correction.

 

Exposure 3 is a great tool for photographers and non-photographers alike. For a non-photographer it is interesting to see how different films looked compared to each other.  For the professional photographer who had their favorite films, they can now reproduce the same look in a digital format.  It is more than a photo tool it is a a great creativity tool.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 or later
  • Adobe Lightroom 2 or later
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 or later

1024x768 or greater monitor resolution

Macintosh:

  • Intel processor
  • Mac OS X 10.5 or later

Windows:

  • Intel Pentium 4 processor (or compatible)
  • Windows XP SP3 or later
